Long Awaited Eid

 


Eid-ul-fiter is our religious festival celebrated by the Muslims all over the world.It comes after the holy month of Ramadan.It is month of fasting from dawn to dusk and people break their fast on the magrib prayer.

Ramadan

Its the 9th month of Islamic calendar inwhich Muhammad (saw) received first revelations from God.

The Quran states:

"The month of Ramadan inwhich was revealed Quran,guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.Do whoever sights the month,let him fast it."

Laylat-ul-Qader

Laylat ul Qader is night that the Muslim believe first verses of the Quran were revealed to Muhammad although the exact date is not known but it likely falls during the last ten days of Ramadan.It is one of the most important night for the Muslims and mostly they ll go to mosques to pray and recite Quran and ask for God's forgiveness.The Muslims do lots of charity in this month.

Eid Day 

It is a time of feast and celebration that marks the end of fasting during the month of Ramadan.Many Muslim hold large dinners  with family and friends.Some participate in neighborhood kitchen or give out of food to celebrate this festival.

Eid prayer

It starts with salat consisting of 2 rakat with 6 additional takbir performed in congregation particularly in an open ground.


Origin 

Eidul-ul-fiter was originated by holy prophet Muhammad (saw) in Medina.

Rituals 

Basically moon night which we call Chand Raat starts right after the moon is sighted.But if moon is not visible then after completion of 30th roza it is celebrated.It is forbidden to fast on eid day.An obligatory act of charity is done to the poor and needy before eid prayer.

What does Eid'ul-fiter means?

This is important as it marks the end of Ramadan,the inwhich Quran was revealed and Laylat-ul-Qader falls.Through this month we fast and recite Quran as much as we can and connect with Allah (SWT) on spiritual level.Taravih is arranged in mosques after Isha prayer.The Muslims spend last ten days of Ramadan in seclusion in a mosque.They seek forgiveness of Allah and his blessings. This practice is called itikaaf.After spending a full month of sacrifice and dedication,Muslims arrange family get to gethers and enjoy blessings.

Ways to celebrate Eid

All the Muslims prepare passionately for this day,by wearing new clothes or the finest clothes they have for this occasion.Young girls apply hina (mendhi) on hands for decoration and wear matching bangles.Different type of desserts are made at home like Fieri, Sheerkhaurma and Shahi tukray.


Mostly men then head over to local mosques for greeting after wishing Eid time for prayer begins.and Women in pakistan plan visits to family friend and relatives in order to greet them.

Eidi

Eidi is most awaited event after namaz.Elders give eidi to young ones.Gifts are exchanged.Sweets are lavishly eaten and distributed in family,friend and community. This is also called sweet eid.Thats all about eid.
