Life after Covid

The world after covid is unlikely to return to the world that was before. Many trends in the global economy are accelerated by the impact of pandemic.

In this digi world, with the rise of digital behaviour we can see remote working and learning, telemedicine and delivery services.Online shopping got much boom due to covid-19.

I will say that if you want your bread and butter in 21st covid attacked century, you must have a smart phone.Internet has become necessity of our life.Every thing is one click away, you just order and pay online.Life has been much more easy than before. Internet has taken all roles.

Big business giants have realised this opportunity and created business accordingly.Instamall is one example.Instamall is a Pakistan's first online mall with hundred percent genuine products of multiple brands.

FoodPanda is a an online food and grocery platform which was started in 2012 in Singapore but later become operational in 50 countries. In the time of covid when no body want to step out,FoodPanda played extremely crucial role.It was not occupying that much market share as now enjoying. It has set a trend for local small investors .

Helping hand home service is a local service started in a small city of Sadiqabad. You just place order on what's app and pay online.Imagine it is happening in county where health and education sectors have been widely ignored.People are not educated,if they were then where we would have been now.Pakistani people are very hardworking, brave and intelligent but unluckily they did not get opportunities.

I will give you the example of Sunny Ali CEO of Extreme Commerce. He started from scratch and enjoyed the heights beyond imagination.

Pakistan has plenty of talent but here is no one to show them right direction. However I didn't mean to disappoint you because I believe that where there is a will, there is a way.we can learn from Google and social media.God has blessed us people like Sunny Ali and Hisham Sarwar who are teaching us online.

Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on micro, small, and medium-sized Enterprises operating in Pakistan

According to the estimates  an economic loss of about 1.1trillion PKP will be observed in the FY 2021.Certain pandemic impediment measures like lockdown, social distancing and travel restrictions taken by the Government have impacted the livelihoods of nearly 7.15 million workers.Consequently a rise of 33.7% of poverty level is projected.Medium and small size industry has been unable to achieve break-even.While many negative impacts on primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of economy such as agriculture, education and health are observed and global tourism tourism is getting due to covid.

Sadly criminals and hackers are also exploiting this situation and there has been a significant rise in coronavirus themed malicious websites with more than 16,000 new coronavirus related domains registered since January 2020.Hackers are selling malware and hacking tools through covid-19 discount codes on the dark net for accessing data from home workers laptops.

Psychological effects of covids

The SARS global outbreak in 2003 was associated with a 30% increase in suicides in people over the age of 65.Strategies like quarantine that are necessary to minimise viral spread can have a negative impact psychological impact such as causing post traumatic stress symptoms, depression and insomnia.Job loss and financial struggles during a global economic downturn turn have been associated with a long lasting decline in mental health.

Remedy

With current economic crisis, fragile health care system and critical health literacy,a well-managed managed and coordinated action plan is required from all the segments of society led by the public authorities.

  1. Interesting blog which concentrates more on digital role during the pandemic rather than describing the disease, it’s prevention, cures, and effect on world economy. Also whether the virus is man made and part of a germ warfare trial. The role of world Health Organisation, etc could have been touched in brief. But overall it is easy reading as all blogs here are. Kudos to the young blogger. Carry on the good work
